Performing duets offers an enriching experience that combines vocal artistry, technical skills, and collaborative emotional expression. They can enliven any performance!

At Domenico Products, we have published Italian duets composed by renowned musicians such as Handel, Hasse, Pergolesi, Telemann, Leo, Gasparini among others from the 18th century. These compositions are available in book format or as individual sheet music in PDF form, which can be downloaded instantly.   They are written in Italian but have a singable English version as well.

Characteristics of Italian Vocal music:

  • Music from this period of music exhibit a strong rhythmic foundation and intricate harmonic structures and are renowned for their expressive qualities.
  • The Italian language, with its inherent musicality and pure vowel sounds, is particularly well-suited for singing.

 

Musical Heritage:

  • Italian Duets from 18th century comic chamber operas feature selections that originate from intermezzi, or comic chamber operas.  These operas were placed between acts Opera Seria (“Serious operas”) that were popular in that era. They were written for soprano and baritone/bass.
  • The duets by Handel were composed for operas for 2 treble voices.

Essentially, singers do more than just hit the right notes; they convey emotion, tell a story, and celebrate the beauty of the human voice and the composer’s artistry.
